This module introduces concepts and terminology associated with pedigree analysis and DNA fingerprinting. It also illustrates how genetic techniques are useful in other scientific disciplines.

In this hypothetical scenario we will determine the pedigree of three small populations of Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies and investigate genetic relationships of sampled individuals using PCR amplification and electrophoresis.
