Galeolaria

Serpulids differ from sabellids in that they live in a tube made of calcium carbonate. They also have the anterior thorax distinguished by also having a distinctive thoracic membrane. Many serpulids also have an operculum with which they can close off the anterior end of their tube. The operculum is a transformed radiole. In serpulids such as Galeolaria the operculum is armoured with calcarous spines.
