There are a number of Internet technologies that the TDU can use to help you deliver your course content to the students.
These can be best delivered via the Internet with Shockwave™ for Authorware™.
This can be delivered via the web in conjunction with web pages of images and text if desired.
In conjunction with images the use of streaming audio can be a very powerful learning tool.
QuickTime Virtual Reality can be used in many applications. Either to view an object or a 360° panorama. Links can be embedded in the scene to zoom in, move to another location, play a movie or even link to another web site. Objects can have links that zoom in for a more detailed views or for a text or audio explanation.
Best used for material that requires simple interactivity. Animations, movies and sound can be embeded in the pages however.
A possible interface between the lecturer and the web where no knowledge of the HTML is required to make learning resources available to the student. i.e. text can be cut and paste into textfields on a web page and be immediately accessed by the student.
Web pages have been developed by the TDU that provide instant feedback for lecturers. The web forms are based on the paperbased evaluation forms available from the Center for Teaching and Learning. These forms can be individualised or modified for evaluation of a variety of materials. One of the advantages of using web based forms is that information is already digitised and can be easily imported in to spreadsheets for statistical analysis.
