Information and communications technologies, or ICT, is a term created to encompass the various computing and telecommunications technologies in which information and digital media are created, distributed and accessed. ICT differs from IT in that it emphasises the integration of communications with computers, therefore ICT is relevant to everyone whose occupation involves communication.
In education, ICT specifically refers to the computing and communications facilities that support both teaching and learning activities and methods.
