FAQ

Questions related to audio files in the Plant Form modules:

I clicked on the audio icon but nothing happens

Make sure you have QuickTime installed. Read the Install QuickTime page for more information on the installation of QuickTime.

I clicked the audio icon and multple QuickTime windows popped up

The first time you click on the audio icon, it will open QuickTime. By default, when QuickTime first starts, it brings up an introductory window or welcome screen with the latest video and music downloads. The audio file for the Plant Form modules will also open but is likely to be hidden by the welcome screen. Close the QuickTime welcome screen and it should reveal the audio file controller.

I can't find the audio track window

See previous question.

I'm using Internet Explorer 7 and when the Plant Form Module page loads a message appears over the audio track icon saying "Press SPACEBAR or ENTER to activate and use this control" but nothing happens when I press Spacebar/Enter

This message will probably look similar to the one in the image below:

Internet Explorer activation message

Ignore this message and DOUBLE CLICK on the audio track icon to activate the QuickTime audio file. If you click more than twice on the icon, for example, if Internet Explorer is slow to respond in opening the audio file, multiple QuickTime windows may open. Close the unnecessary windows and press Play in the QuickTime audio window to listen to the file.

I'm using Internet Explorer 6 and it has blocked some content

Internet Explorer may block some multimedia content for security reasons. If you get a message at the top of your browser window that says:

"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options..."

internet explorer error

Click as instructed and select "Allow blocked content" from the dropdown list that appears when you click. Another warning message about the danger of allowing active content will appear after this:

internet explorer active x warning

Click "Yes" and you should then see a QuickTime icon load followed by the text "Click here to play the audio track" as shown below.
